As racers wash the Finale Ligure dust from their race bikes, with the exception of a scattering of local races, the 2014 enduro season is over, and what an awesome season it has been. But before the race bikes were packed away, we scoured the pits to find the coolest machines, bringing you bike checks from Jared, Tracy, Martin, Anne Caro and many more…
While walking around the professional setups at the EWS pits in Finale, it made us dream what it would be like to be a pro, and for one day that came partly true. Our editor got to experience the full ‘pro only’ FOX RAD program, getting a sneak peak at the future of all-mountain shocks from the Suspension Powerhouse.
But it was not just FOX shocks that we tested this month. Marzocchi have just released the 350 NCR fork, and we put it to the test on both home trails and on the tough stages of Finale Ligure. When you are riding rocky trails like these protection is everything, so we also brought you our views on the super high end Sweet Protection Fixer Carbon helmet and Scott Leap Glasses.
As the season draws to a close, with a tear in our eyes it is almost time to say goodbye to our long term test bikes. These bikes have been assessed mercilessly by our long-term-test team, and some have been pushed beyond the limit. These bikes are still being ridden hard, so check out the long term timeline for the latest news. We also have some new bikes on the fleet, a Juliana run by new UK tester Rachael Gurney and ‘Project Unbreakable’, for our resident hooligan Jim.
There was surprising news too, with enduro growing rapidly around the globe British Cycling announced they would not be supporting enduro in 2015, a decision that shocked everyone. However, one company that could never be accused of backwards thinking is Rose, their new concept store may change the way that bikes are sold, forever.
And speaking of the future, the Design & Innovation Award 2015 is about to start. With more than 100 participating and supporting brands it is not only the industry’s most important award, but also a forum for new trends and future developments. From small start-ups up to the industry’s “big players”, all important brands have submitted their best and most innovative products. Find out more about the awesome award and its jury: Joe Parkin, Ruben Torenbeek, Manuel Fumic, Nico Lau,Vali Höll and Valentina Macheda
